Making a Movie in the 1920s

The Flaming Forest

       Dad, William James McKay, wrote:
In April 1922, I was working for a Moving Picture Company that moved into the Valley to shoot the picture "The Flaming Forest" There were about 30 persons in the cast including such old actors as Lionel Barrymore,  Louis Wolheim, Patsy Graham and Red Eagle. We worked on Dutch Creek, building log cabins for one of their sets. From there we moved to the Paradise Mine and they shot a lot of scenes in the Paradise Basin. We were all paid top wages and were sorry when they left.
The silent movie was released for viewing in 1926.
